This pivotal role requires a fully qualified tax professional who also has previous experience in industry or commerce, who can drive compliance, strategic planning, and process improvement across indirect tax functions.Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Reporting. Manage all aspects of indirect tax compliance including VAT, GST, and sales tax ensuring timely and accurate return filings and payments across UK and international operations.Tax Planning and Advisory. Provide strategic guidance on indirect tax implications of business activities, including cross-border transactions and commercial initiatives and identify indirect tax efficiency and optimisation opportunities.Audit and Risk Management. Lead and support audits and disputes with tax authorities, including preparation of documentation and responses.Process Improvement and Systems. Continually review and enhance tax processes and systems to streamline operations. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and IT teams on enhancements and work with external tax advisors; collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to implement tax strategies.Regulatory Monitoring. Stay current with changes in indirect tax laws and adjust company practices accordingly.Reporting and Communication. Prepare reports and present indirect tax positions to senior management, clarifying complex tax issues to non-specialists.Required experience
Professional qualification, (fully qualified) such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent.Experience in industry or commerce, ideally within a multinational or large-scale organisational setting.Minimum of 3 years in indirect tax, with hands-on exposure to VAT, GST, or sales tax compliance and advisory roles.Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical tax matters into business-relevant insights.Proficiency in tax systems and advanced Excel, familiarity with ERP environments a plus.Location and employment details
