Long Term Futures is looking for a resilient and compassionate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Ilford. This is a long-term, full-time contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role, focusing on supporting primary-aged pupils with diverse additional needs. You will be working within a dedicated team to provide a tailored educational experience that prioritises the individual development and wellbeing of every child.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Implement bespoke learning plans and sensory activities designed to meet specific student requirements.
  • Use a variety of communication methods and de-escalation techniques to support positive behaviour.
  • Assist in the personal care or physical therapy needs of pupils where required by their individual plans.
  • Collaborate closely with the SENCO, therapists, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.


Essential Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a primary or specialist school setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of specific interventions or communication tools such as PECS or Makaton is highly desirable.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations with sensitivity.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and a desire to make a tangible difference in a child''s life.
