Housing Options Officer

About the Role One of my local goverment clients is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officers to join our Housing Solutions team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact in supporting some of the most vulnerable residents in our community. You will play a key role in the delivery of homelessness prevention services, applying your detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI and VII) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to manage a varied and often complex caseload. Key Responsibilities Carry out assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including drafting robust Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs). Determine prevention and relief duties, ensuring accurate interpretation of housing legislation. Manage a varied caseload including individuals and families with complex needs or a history of rough sleeping. Maintain a prevention-focused approach, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners. Prepare and present decision letters and case files in accordance with legal obligations. Essential Experience and Knowledge Proven experience in a Housing Options/Homelessness Officer role within a local authority. In-depth understanding of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI and VII). Experience applying the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 in a statutory setting. Ability to assess complex cases, draft decision letters, and formulate effective PHPs.
