Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary academy in Nottingham to recruit a Communication Support Assistant to support students with hearing impairments and communication needs.

As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a key role in enabling students with hearing impairments to fully access the curriculum and school environment. Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing communication support for deaf or hearing-impaired students during lessons and school activities.

• Supporting students using British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication strategies where appropriate.

• Helping students access lesson content through adapted communication and learning strategies.

• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to ensure effective inclusion within the classroom.

• Promoting student independence, confidence and engagement in learning.

To be successful in this role, you should:

• Have experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired students in an educational setting.

• Hold a British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or relevant communication support training.

• Have a strong understanding of inclusive education and SEND support practices.

• Be patient, supportive and committed to helping students reach their potential.

• Hold a valid DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

• A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout the recruitment process.

• Access to training and CPD opportunities.

• Support in securing long-term roles within supportive schools.

• Opportunities across a large network of local schools and trusts.
