to support our YouTube channels fern and Simplicissimus. As Art Director, you will play a key role in shaping the visual concept and successful execution of our productions and will contribute significantly to the ongoing visual development of our channels.Most of our team is based in Germany and the Netherlands. Therefore, we prefer German-speaking applicants with a good level of English residing in the DACH or Benelux region to ensure smooth collaboration.Tasks

Develop the visual concept for our documentaries and video essays.Present and pitch concepts and ideas convincingly to all stakeholders in project-based meetingsEnsure that the visual design supports and enhances the editorial impact of the documentariesProvide clear direction for editing, 2D motion design, 3D animation, and sound.Oversee the entire post-production process from the first rough cut to the final audio mixGive constructive, actionable feedback at every stage of post-productionEnsure that your concepts are implemented and our quality standards are metCommunicate realistic deadlines and take shared responsibility for timely project deliveryWork closely with the editorial team to guarantee content accuracy in visualsMonitor current media and design trends, test new visual approaches, and introduce innovative ideas into projectsSolve creative, scheduling, or technical challenges while keeping the bigger picture and timeline in mindImprove post-production processes and workflows to sustainably increase efficiency and qualityRequirements

Several years of professional experience in at least two of the following areas: editing, cinematography, directing, 2D animation, 3D animationA passion for creative work and journalistic content, with a strong eye for detail and a drive for continuous developmentExcellent organizational skills and the ability to keep deadlines in checkClear and professional communicator – both with your team and with external partnersFluency in German and business-level English.DesirablePrior experience in Art Direction, ideally in documentary or digital video productionFamiliarity with 2D and 3D animation workflows, as these are an essential part of our productionsSolid knowledge of project management tools such as Monday.comBenefits
