Overview

Locum Consultant in Psychiatry for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (LD) for the Pembrokeshire area. The post holder will provide specialist community psychiatric care to people with intellectual disabilities residing in Pembrokeshire. The service is engaged in reducing health inequalities and developing liaison and teaching activities across primary care, hospital, and community settings.Responsibilities

Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.Sustain and develop teaching and research where appropriate.Conduct clinical practice in accordance with Health Board procedures, policies, and contractual requirements.Contribute to the Consultant on-call rota (1 in 14).Maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies for the specialty or Health Board.Deliver core clinical expertise in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry and lead a specialty service.Lead and train multi-disciplinary teams, and provide supervision to junior and middle grade medical staff.Engage in CPD activities including audits and maintain professional development for Revalidation.Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; act as supervisor where appropriate.Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audits and promote evidence-based medicine.Qualifications and Experience

Core clinical expertise in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry.Experience and knowledge of running a specialty service.Strong leadership and team-building skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.Experience in teaching, training, and research activities.Commitment to CPD and revalidation requirements.About the Employer

The successful candidate may be eligible to hold an Honorary Academic title at a partner university, with responsibilities in undergraduate teaching and research to be negotiated as part of the job plan. This is a fixed-term academic arrangement subject to performance in academic activity and university procedures.
