A welcoming two-form entry primary school in Southampton is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a young child with hearing loss as they begin their school journey. The child is full of curiosity and enthusiasm, and the school is keen to ensure they can settle in, build friendships, and fully access the curriculum with confidence.

The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support for a child in Reception with hearing impairment
- Facilitate access to the curriculum through tailored communication strategies
- Encourage confidence, independence, and strong social connections
- Be willing to go the extra mile and support the child (especially at the beginning of their journey) at lunch and break times too
- Encourage all pupils to be curious, inclusive and supportive of similarities and differences
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent, effective support
- Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment for all pupils
What We''re Looking For:
- Experience working with children in an educational or early year setting
- A desire to support children with hearing impairments
- An interest in or familiarity with Makaton or British Sign Language (training can be supported)
- A genuine willingness to learn and grow in this area
- Strong communication skills and a creative, caring, flexible approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children''s welfare
