Overview

Acute Oncology Nurse Specialist is sought to support the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) Nursing Team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC). The post focuses on providing advice and support to patients experiencing acute symptoms of their cancer and/or its treatment, working collaboratively with advanced clinical practitioners (ACP) and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure efficient patient pathways, a positive patient experience, and safe discharge.There is an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within a supportive learning environment. A High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,552; maximum £5,735 per annum, pro rata) applies.Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour/7-day week telephone triage during daytime shifts and participate in the 5-day week face-to-face AOS Assessment Unit.Work with the AOS CNS team to advise and support patients with acute cancer- or treatment-related symptoms.Prioritise admissions to the inpatient ward according to admission criteria and ensure efficient patient pathways and safe discharge.Act as a professional role model, delivering direct and indirect clinical care, teaching, and research as required.Be flexible in approach to the clinical area and provide cover for MVCC areas as specified.About MVCC and Team

MVCC is a renowned tertiary cancer centre at the forefront of cancer care in the UK, with exciting plans for the future. The post will enable the current team to expand the AOS and support the AOS CNS team.Requirements and Qualifications

Registered Nurse with relevant experience in oncology or acute care.Experience in acute symptom management and working within an MDT/ACP environment is desirable.Flexibility to support different MVCC areas as required.Values and Equal Opportunities
