Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

GSL Education are working with a specialist SEN school in Southsea to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Disability Support Worker. The school supports pupils with SLD, Autism, and associated communication and sensory needs, providing a safe, structured, and highly personalised learning environment.

Responsibilities of a Disability Support Worker:
- Provide 1:1 support for pupils with challenging behaviour, Autism, SEMH and mental health needs
- Help promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and a safe learning space
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide consistent, tailored support
- Working with children in the classroom setting
- Managing challenging behaviour
- Working with students one-to-one and small groups
Requirements for Disability Support Worker:
- Has experience working with young people, this could be as a Sports Coach, Dance Leader, Scout Leader or something similar (preferred, not essential).
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).
- Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
- Can engage children in and out of the classroom
- Feels confident managing challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
