CNC Programmer and Prototype Machinist

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and professional CNC Machinist with proven experience of programming and operating 3-axis and 5-axis machines, to work for a successful, forward thinking organisation that can offer an informal, friendly but professional and hard working environment. This role reports directly to the Technical Director, but the successful applicant will work closely with workshop colleagues as well as DCA s project managers, designers and engineers. Duties and responsibilities include: Programming and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines. Producing one off or low volume prototype parts, often small, complex components using a range of materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass and a range of engineering plastics. Approaching each job with efficiency and creativity, choosing the appropriate machining strategy and programming cycles. Producing parts to extreme levels of accuracy, taking responsibility for your own work and checking the quality of the end result. Assisting with the collation of external cost information relating to the CNC machining area to support the annual workshop departmental budget. Operating other manual machines including lathe, manual mill and surface grinder. Renewing annual service and maintenance contracts for the CNC machines, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder.
