Job overview
This is a fixed term 12 month post within the well established Manchester Cared for Children’s CAMHS team which provides specialist, targeted, city wide services to children and young people (0 – 18 years) who are Cared for by Manchester Local Authority. The post holder will offer comprehensive mental health assessment and intervention, specialist consultation and staff training as part of their role and there is extensive liaison, consultation and multiagency working with foster carers and professionals from Children’s Services and all associated networks. There are plenty of opportunities for CPD and learning as well as joint working opportunities.The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. This post entails teaching and supervisory duties to other professionals and junior staff and/or students and regular consultation to the wider children’s service. The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework.This post is a clinical post and the expectation of time management is that the majority of time is spent in clinical practice.Main duties of the job
· To provide assessments, formulation and specialist intervention to promote the mental and emotional health of cared for children and young peopleTo provide psychological expertise, advice and consultation to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care by other professionals working with the client group from health and other agencies in areas relevant to direct clinical work and to service provision.To provide an immediate response and interventions where required to children and young people and be confident to safety plan, risk assess and understand when children and young people need a crisis response and how to manage this appropriately.To deliver a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions, including risk management, utilising the skills and expertise of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies where appropriate.To contribute to the group and training offer delivered by the serviceTWorking for our organisation

Qualifications
You must be registered/accredited with a professional body. e.g. NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BACPYou must have a recognised qualification. Recognised qualifications are: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the BPS Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNMH Social Work (CQSW/DipSW) Occupational TherapyAdditional post graduate training in psychological therapies and interventionsExperience
Experience in working with Looked After Children and multiagency workingExperience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range.Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.Proven experience of working effectively with children and young people with mental health difficulties, including autonomous management of a complex caseload which frequently deals with distressing and emotional circumstances.Experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding.Experience of developing and providing evidenced based assessments, formulations, and care plans and effective use of ROMS.Experience of hard to reach diverse community groups and individuals with emerging complex needs, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities and safeguarding.Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals, including managing difficult conversations and differences of opinion.Experience of mentoring and supervision of others, including supporting the mental health and wellbeing of junior staff and trainees.Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance and a willingness to follow Trust Policy and ProceduresExperience of providing a variety of interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their familiesCommunity mental health experience across a variety of settings.Employer certification / accreditation badges
