Our client, a prominent organisation in the Defence and Security sector, seeks a skilled Hardware Engineer with expertise in electronics design for a contract role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on advanced projects requiring a deep understanding of system requirements and hardware development.Key Responsibilities:
Interpretation of system requirements and decomposition into hardware requirementsConduct electronics and/or firmware development activities and reviews, covering full system, sub-system, and individual board design/codingEnsure technical solutions meet customer, legislative, and business requirementsProvide technical oversight of engineering activities throughout the project lifecycleSupport team planning and estimation activities at the beginning of new projectsIdentify and resolve qualification, certification, and safety issuesProduce project technical documentation, including management plans, requirement specifications, design documents, interface specifications, and acceptance testsLiaise with customers and suppliers as appropriateOversee initial test and integration, including formal testingRole Requirements:
Experience across the whole project lifecycle as an electronics/firmware engineer, ideally within the defence sectorHands-on experience in designing complex systems involving multiple electronics disciplinesSuccessful delivery of reliable solutions to timescale and budget as part of fixed-price contractsAbility to work with a wide range of stakeholders as part of a multi-disciplinary project teamAdditional requirements include:Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering disciplineExposure to analog and digital technologies, design for EMC, electrical safety and signal integrity including schematic and PCB layoutFamiliarity with one or more PMRP and ECAD toolsExperience in design for manufacture and a strong understanding of the full project lifecyclePrototyping, testing, and verification of electronic subsystems at PCB, unit, and sub-system levelComponent selection and understanding of associated issues including obsolescence and environmental aspects (REACH, RoHS etc.)Capable of acquiring SC clearance as a minimumDesirable Experience:Design for low noise, low power analogue receiver front ends utilising JFETs and low noise differential amplifiersMicroSemi/Intel FPGA design experienceADC, DAC selection and designFilter designVME/VPX design experiencePower amplifier design using SIC FET technology up to 1500V DCPower supply design mains supply and DC-DC convertersCadstar ECAD experienceMatchtech is a STEM Recruitment Specialist, with over 40 years’ experience.
