You will provide strategic corporation tax services to property clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to large property investment groups and development companies.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a substantial portfolio of property sector corporate clients, including standalone entities and complex group structures.
Oversee all aspects of corporation tax compliance, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships with property developers, investment companies, and REITs.
Act as primary point of contact for client queries and strategic discussions.
Structure planning: design and implement optimal corporate structures (companies, LLPs, partnerships) for property ventures.
Restructuring projects: lead complex corporate reorganizations and group restructurings.
Group tax planning: develop sophisticated tax planning strategies for property groups.
International matters: handle cross-border property transactions and international tax implications.
Venture capital reliefs: advise on EIS, SEIS, and other relevant tax reliefs for property investments.
MandA transactions: manage tax aspects of property acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures.
Due diligence: prepare comprehensive tax sections for due diligence reports.
Strategic tax planning: identify and develop tax-efficient opportunities tailored to property sector challenges.
Collaborate with partners to implement complex tax planning strategies.
Stay ahead of property-specific tax legislation and regulatory changes.
Provide innovative solutions for capital allowances, stamp duty planning, and development structures.
Line manage junior tax professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and career development.
Lead training sessions and technical updates for the team.
Conduct performance appraisals and support career progression planning.
Foster a collaborative team environment focused on excellence and client service.
Actively participate in business development initiatives and client acquisition.
Attend networking events within the property sector; identify cross-selling opportunities with existing clients.
Contribute to thought leadership through articles, seminars, and client presentations.
Manage billing and work-in-progress for assigned clients; ensure profitability of engagements.
Maintain quality standards across all deliverables; liaise with other departments to provide comprehensive client service.
Essential RequirementsProfessional Qualifications
CTA qualification
(Chartered Tax Adviser) – essential
ACA or ACCA
qualification would be advantageous
Strong technical knowledge
of UK corporation tax, with particular expertise in property taxation
Experience Requirements
Minimum 5-7 years
post-qualification experience in UK corporation tax
Proven track record
of managing complex corporate client portfolios
Substantial experience
with property sector clients preferred
Experience in advisory work
including MandA transactions and restructuring
Team management experience
with junior staff
Client-facing experience
at senior level
Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge
of corporation tax compliance and advisory
Expertise
in property-specific tax areas (capital allowances, development profits, REIT regimes)
Strong understanding
of group taxation and international tax principles
Experience with
tax due diligence and transaction support
Proficiency
in Alpha Tax software
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
(Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
