Course Leader – MA Fashion Design/ IM London

OverviewIn coordination with the Director of Education or Program Leader (PL), the role is responsible for supporting the management and coordination of the assigned courses, ensuring compliance with academic standards and accreditation requirements. Additionally, the Course Leader will play a key role in the development and delivery of online and blended learning, incorporating innovative digital teaching strategies, enhancing student engagement, and ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in virtual learning environments.
The role also involves contributing to the improvement of the students'' learning experience and supporting the development of curriculum and academic projects in partnership with companies in the luxury sector. The Course Leader will be a key member of the teaching faculty, actively contributing to course delivery across multiple programmes.
Key responsibilitiesCourses Management Support –
Supports the coordination and quality assurance of the courses within the assigned teaching area: support in developing course content and material, ensuring that academic and scientific results meet required standards. Supports the Director of Education or PL in maintaining accreditation requirements and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational outcomes set at company level. Actively participate in organizing and monitoring course assessments and student performance.
Faculty Management Support –
Supports the Director of Education or PL in the management of the faculty for the assigned teaching area. Actively collaborates in monitoring academic activities in terms of teaching quality standards and students’ experience. Supports the Director of Education or PL in the recruitment process for new academic staff, as well as providing feedback on teaching performance.
Students'' Tutoring and Supervision –
Contributes in supporting students'' academic success in the assigned courses by engaging in regular tutoring activities and academic supervision. Ensures that students receive consistent support throughout their studies, including during thesis work and other key projects. Reviews student feedback collected through student voice to improve the learning experience and contribute to achieving student satisfaction goals which meet defined targets. Effectively utilise Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) to enhance student learning, foster collaboration, and provide timely feedback. Advocate for the integration of emerging digital learning technologies, including AI, adaptive learning, and immersive tools, to enrich the learning experience.
Curriculum Development and Enhancement
- Actively contributes to the development and enhancement of the curriculum, ensuring it meets both academic and industry standards. Supports course content revisions, including assessments, delivery methods, and learning outcomes. Works collaboratively with the Director of Education or PL to implement changes based on feedback from students and industry partners. Supports the integration of innovative teaching methods to maintain relevance within the luxury sector.
Academic and Industry Projects –
Supports the Director of Education or PL in the implementation of academic projects in partnership with the main industries in the luxury sector (e.g., fashion, design, art). Participates in coordinating industry visits, exhibitions, and other events that connect academic learning with industry practice.
RandD – CV Development –
Takes responsibility for developing their own academic profile in line with the institution’s expectations. Actively participates in professional development activities and encourages continuous learning within the teaching team. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and best practices in the relevant academic and industry sectors.
Education and Competencies
Minimum Master Degree
Minimum 7 years of experience in the UK Higher Education sector in academic role
Knowledge of the fashion design industry in a range of company context
Excellent written and spoken English
Leadership, effectiveness and responsiveness approach
Excellent spoken and written communication, public speaking
Organizational skills, flexibility and ability to manage unforeseen events
IT knowledge: Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Mac
Desirable but not essential: Knowledge and experience with Digital Learning and Online Delivery
