The primary role of the Engineering Practice Team is to improve software delivery quality and speed across the Digital Systems department. The team focuses on integrating Agile, DevOps, CI/CD and engineering metrics into a unified and scalable framework that empowers high-performing teams. You will focus on how we engineer by collaborating with teams to understand their platforms and empower them to be more efficient.Develop and guide the engineering practice strategy, ensuring alignment of Agile, DevOps and delivery frameworks with broader organisational goalsOversee a multidisciplinary team including DevOps engineers, Agile coaches and QA specialists to enable scalable and efficient software deliveryChampion the adoption of CI/CD, GitOps, automated testing and performance metrics to enhance both the quality and velocity of deliveryManage shared development and testing environments, advocating for Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency, reliability and scalabilityEstablish and nurture Communities of Practice across engineering domains to promote collaboration, continuous learning and standardisationWhat will you get from the role?

Extensive experience in software engineering or DevOpsExperience in people and process management, including line managing and coaching software engineers, implementing best practice and driving continuous improvement across engineering teamsExperience evaluating, procuring, and implementing the right software engineering toolingEssential
Expertise in engineering best practices and standards, including code quality, architectural governance, DevOps maturity and security compliance, with hands-on experience in software development, environments, tooling and DevOpsProven change mentorship capabilities, successfully driving the adoption of new tools, processes and cultural shifts across multiple teams, with a strong Agile background and experience managing development or DevOps tooling teamsAble to define and leverage key software engineering metrics such as velocity, code quality and incident rates to inform continuous improvement and effective resource allocationCapable of fostering cross-team alignment and adoption of best practicesOur Values and Diversity
