Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major nuclear projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex assignments, supporting the UK’s nuclear and energy transition sectors. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality design solutions, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client expectations.Responsibilities
Provide specialist electrical input on projects and proposals, including drafting, reviewing, and approving engineering documentationMentor and support junior engineers and graduates to build technical capability within the teamDeliver electrical engineering outputs that meet budget, schedule, and quality standardsEnsure all designs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, and client requirementsPrepare specifications and requisitions for electrical equipment including HV/LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, and associated installationsRequirements
Extensive experience in electrical engineering within the nuclear sectorStrong knowledge of design processes, installation standards, and UK legislationSkilled in compliance with CE marking requirements (ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery, EMC) and nuclear plant installation standardsDegree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, or Control EngineeringChartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards professional registration)Security cleared (or eligible), with expertise in risk management, HSE, and regulatory complianceSeniority level
