An iconic and progressive academic institution in London seeks a Head of Financial Operations on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will lead operational finance, ensuring stability and driving change during a major transformation.

The institution supports 7,500 students and 2,000 staff on a single-site campus and works closely with the Chief Finance and Infrastructure Officer who brings extensive corporate experience and a strategically ambitious vision.

Responsibilities

Operational Management:

Manage teams responsible for Accounts Payable, Credit Control, and Treasury.

Systems and Efficiency:

Lead substantial work on Treasury and systems development, working with existing planning and analysis systems. You may be involved in the early stages of a new finance system implementation.

Process Improvement:

Update core policies and lead process mapping exercises across financial operations to enhance efficiency and resilience.

The Ideal Candidate: Technical Expertise and Strategic Acumen

Qualified Accountant Status:

This is a firm requirement.

Systems Expertise:

Strong ERP/systems experience. Familiarity with Unit 4 Business World is beneficial but not required.

Intellectual Rigour:

Quick on the uptake, able to grasp complex challenges and communicate effectively with senior leadership without needing explanations repeated.

Political and People Management:

Ability to navigate sensitive team dynamics, manage university bureaucracy, and exercise strong judgment with confidential information.

Communication:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Contract:

12-month fixed-term, with potential for extension.
