The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join a highly regarded special school in Watford starting this September. This role is ideal for someone committed to supporting children and young people with autism spectrum conditions and associated needs, such as speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and behaviour regulation.
You''ll work in a calm, nurturing environment with small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio. You''ll join a collaborative and skilled team focused on delivering structured, individualised learning experiences that help every student thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver tailored lessons for pupils with complex needs, primarily autism.
Establish structured routines and use visual supports to aid communication and learning.
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide consistent, holistic support.
Track and contribute to progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
Use evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, independence, and social development.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
Engage in continued professional development and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent, ideally with experience in SEN or inclusive settings.
Strong knowledge of autism and associated learning differences.
Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, preferably in specialist or alternative provision.
Resilient, patient, and child-centred in your approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness
