Trust Doctor (eqv to ST3) in Geriatric Medicine | Barts Health NHS Trust

OverviewWe are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic team providing acute GIM and Geriatric Medicine services to the people of Newham. This would suit either a full time or part time candidate.
Newham University Hospital is a district general hospital with a major undergraduate teaching role, serving one of the most ethnically diverse populations in the UK. The Care of the Elderly Department has an age related policy for medical admissions, with ongoing care of medical emergencies in patients aged 75 years and above. This is in association with a General Medical (all ages) integrated on call rota. The Geriatric consultants also provide the majority input into the Medical Admissions Team, as well as providing Stroke, Frailty and community services.
The successful applicant will contribute to the acute GIM service at Newham University Hospital (NUH), with full commitment to the integrated general medical on call rota (Registrar level). They will have continued management of older medical inpatients, either on the acute short stay unit or on the complex care/rehabilitation ward. They will also contribute to outpatient services in Care of the Elderly. There is also the opportunity to participate in specialist clinics, such as Diagnostic Memory Clinic and TIA clinic, and participate in Nursing Home visits. They will also provide input into the Acute Frailty service.

Manage ethical and legal issues which occur during the management of patients with general medical problems

Qualifications and Skills
Clinical experience in acute GIM and geriatric medicine
Ability to contribute to on call rotas and multi-disciplinary teams
