Procurement Officer

About the Role
One of my local government clients are currently recruiting for an experienced-and driven Procurement Officer to join their busy team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful public sector projects and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement support across a range of council services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and delivering best value for money.
Key Responsibilities

Manage procurement processes from initial brief through to tendering and contract award

Provide strategic support and advice to Service Managers across the council

Lead on project setup, supplier engagement, clarifications, and evaluation

Utilise e-procurement systems to manage tenders and framework call-offs

Ensure compliance with PCR 2015 and contribute towards Procurement Act 2023 transition

Monitor supplier performance and support contract variations where needed

Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements

Proven experience in public sector procurement, ideally within local government

Strong understanding of e-procurement systems and end-to-end tendering processes

Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and handle high workloads

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of the Procurement Act is highly desirable
