Overview
Bank Specialist Nurse for Children in Care ONW. The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of looked after children and young people. It is expected that the post holder will autonomously undertake direct specialist clinical work including carrying out statutory health assessment reviews on Looked after Children. You will also be delivering training to foster carers and other health and social care professionals. An interest and knowledge of looked after children and young people are essential. Experience of safeguarding and multi-agency working is also key to the role. The team also take responsibility for children placed out of borough. This includes undertaking the health assessment and/or liaison with other agencies and services, coordinating effective care and acting as an advocate where necessary. The post holder will provide expertise and demonstrate sophisticated clinical skills to work directly with vulnerable children and adolescents from a background of trauma and/or neglect.
Responsibilities
Maintain a clinical caseload and assess health needs with a child-centred holistic framework in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their families. (2000)
Ensure effective implementation of healthcare plans for individual children
Work in partnership with the Named Doctor and Named Nurse to undertake holistic health assessments for all children entering care
Develop individual Health Care Plans in partnership with the Named Doctor, Named nurse and GPs
Liaise with all relevant health care professionals to implement the Health Care Plan
Undertake statutory review health assessments for all Looked After Children (LAC) in Barnet
Develop, implement and evaluate health care plans in partnership with LAC and their carers
Qualifications and Requirements
RN or RN (child)
Health Visiting / School Nursing qualification, with entry onto the 3rd part of the NMC Register
Evidence of ongoing professional development in Saf safeguarding Issues
Minimum of two years post-registration experience in the acute sector or in the community
Essential: You must be an NMC registered, UK-based nurse; zero-hours role with no visa sponsorship
Desirable: Mental health qualification
