About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the quality of education within a specialist setting.
As Assistant Headteacher, you will drive excellence in curriculum design, teaching, and learning, ensuring all pupils—particularly those with complex needs and SEND—receive a high-quality, engaging, and inclusive education. You will work closely with senior leadership to raise standards, improve outcomes, and create a culture of continuous improvement.
About the Provision
This well-established specialist setting supports young people aged 11–19 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The provision offers a nurturing, structured environment with small class sizes and highly personalised support. It is committed to helping students re-engage with education, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and in life beyond school.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of an ambitious, accessible, and engaging curriculum tailored to pupils with SEND and complex needs
- Ensure delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, including core subjects and vocational pathways
- Monitor and evaluate teaching quality through observations, work scrutiny, and feedback
- Use data and assessment effectively to identify gaps and drive targeted interventions
- Support and develop teaching staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development
Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and continuous improvement across the school.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven leadership experience in curriculum development and raising teaching standards
- Strong understanding of assessment, curriculum design, and evidence-based teaching practices
- A confident and inspirational leader with the ability to motivate and support staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Data-driven, with the ability to translate insight into impactful action
