Sub Agent

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary civil engineering specialist in the UK, is seeking a motivated and experienced Sub Agent to join their team on a permanent basis in Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging and significant civil engineering projects, with a strong focus on large-scale rail infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery: Assist the Site Agent or Project Manager in the daily management and delivery of on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and site personnel, providing technical guidance and ensuring all work is carried out efficiently and safely.
Technical Management: Oversee the setting out, quality control, and technical compliance of all works. Resolve on-site technical issues and ensure all construction adheres to design specifications and engineering standards.
Health and Safety: Champion and enforce robust health and safety procedures on site. Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and lead toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment.
Subcontractor Management: Manage and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring their work aligns with the project programme and quality requirements.
Reporting and Administration: Prepare and maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and documentation. Assist with project planning, programming, and cost control.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for clients, designers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem resolution.
Candidate Requirements
Education: A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Site Engineer on civil engineering projects. Experience on large rail projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques. Competent in the use of surveying equipment and in reading complex engineering drawings.
Leadership: Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Health and Safety: In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation. A valid CSCS card is essential. A PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification would be a significant advantage.
