Supply Desk is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Rickmansworth. Job Description:
- Deliver engaging and well-planned Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 teaching opportunities may also be available depending on experience and subject specialism).
- Teach across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics where required, or specialise within your discipline.
- Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Foster a positive classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically and independently.
- Track student progress and implement strategies to support achievement and personal development.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Science department to develop schemes of work and share best practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and extracurricular school activities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support learning and progress.
- Uphold high standards of behaviour and learning within the classroom.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher (ECT) with a specialism in Science.
- Have experience teaching Science at secondary school level (experience preferred but not essential for ECTs).
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
- Be enthusiastic and creative in delivering lessons that challenge and inspire students.
- Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
- Be a strong communicator and team player with a proactive attitude.
- Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Hold or be willing to obtain a clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
- Be open to continuous professional development and school-wide involvement.
