Electrical Design Engineer

Excelitas UK is the top global name in photonics-based products and solutions from ultraviolet to infrared under the Noblelight product family. Our products Systems are designed to avoid wasting energy, improve process reliability and bring more innovation in markets such as UV Disinfection for food and beverage production and fast, high temperature heating Solutions for the Composites industry.

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to help develop the next generation of xenon flashlamp systems.

As Electrical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical circuitry to support our manufacturing and systems development processes.

The primary responsibilities of the role are as follows:

• -Lead systems electrical designs.
• Hands-on approach in the implementation of designs.
• Support product development of xenon flashlamp systems.
• Support existing products in the field.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Liaise with sub-contract suppliers.

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years industry experience
• Experience in electrical system design (IEC (phone number removed)
• Experience in safety design (ISO (phone number removed) & (phone number removed)
• Experience in fault-finding.
• Good organisation in revision control / documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

• Experience in commissioning systems (FAT & SAT)
• Experience in high voltage design (IEC (phone number removed)
• Experience in E-Plan
• Experience in sizing capacitors.
• Experience in supervision of system builds.
• Experience in developing and trouble-shooting PLC / HMI programs.
• Proficiency in Siemens PLC / HMI programs.
• Proficiency in ladder logic
• Good organisation in coding / commenting.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week on site (with 15 hours remote work per month allowance) Monday to Friday.

Location: Science Park, Cambridge
