SEN Teacher

About the Role:

We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-respected special school in Hemel Hempstead. This role is perfect for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with autism spectrum conditions and related needs, including speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and behavioural support.

You will work within a calm, nurturing setting featuring small classes and a high staff-to-student ratio, alongside a skilled, collaborative team focused on delivering personalised, structured learning to help every student reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  Plan and deliver bespoke lessons designed for pupils with complex needs, predominantly autism.

  
  



• 
  

  Develop and maintain structured routines and visual aids to support communication and learning.

  
  



• 
  

  Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to ensure a consistent and holistic approach.

  
  



• 
  

  Monitor and contribute to progress against EHCP objectives and personalised learning plans.

  
  



• 
  

  Use evidence-based strategies to promote emotional regulation, social skills, and independence.

  
  



• 
  

  Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.

  
  



• 
  

  Engage in ongoing professional development and support whole-school improvement efforts.

  
  

Requirements:

• 
  

  Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent, with experience in special or inclusive education.

  
  



• 
  

  Strong understanding of autism and related learning differences.

  
  



• 
  

  Experience supporting pupils with SEN, preferably within specialist or alternative provision settings.

  
  



• 
  

  Resilience, patience, and a student-focused approach.

  
  



• 
  

  Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
