Health & Safety Officer - Research Environment (12-Week Contract)

We''re seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional for a dynamic research department in Oxford. This 12-week contract offers the chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced academic setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead departmental health & safety compliance and audits
• Investigate incidents and support occupational health referrals
• Manage laboratory safety processes and critical equipment maintenance
• Oversee Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments and PEEPs
• Support sustainable lab practices and safe hazardous waste disposal
• Engage with governance and regulatory compliance (HTA, radiation, biosafety)

About You:

• Background in life sciences or technical discipline (degree or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation in lab environments (esp. Biosafety Level 2)
• Experience in university or hospital research settings
• Confident communicator with strong organisational skills
• Familiarity with human tissue and radiation safety protocols a plus
