This is an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced, compassionate nurse to lead a highly motivated and dynamic specialist palliative care nursing team in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB)The Specialist Palliative Care Directorate in ABUHB is currently undergoing some exciting changes and developments, in partnership with our third sector providers. We are now looking for an experienced nurse to lead a well-established and innovative palliative care nursing team.We would welcome a lead nurse who is visionary with a passion for palliative and end of life care who cares about making a difference to the quality of life for patients with life limiting illness and keeping patients at the heart of all you do.Main duties of the job

The key elements of the role are:To work in partnership with ABuHB staff, the specialist palliative care voluntary sector providers and national bodies to support the enhancement of the palliative care pathway and service redesign in line with the Specialist Palliative Care Clinical Futures ModelTo improve standards of specialist palliative care by facilitating the development of practice and strengthening leadership to ensure that palliative care patients and carers have a quality experienceTo Lead and develop the CNS team in palliative care in the development and implementation of a consistent and effective specialist service and to improve patient end of life choicesTo be integral to Specialist Palliative care senior management teamTo be accountable for leading and managing educational programmes in palliative care in response to identified nursing and AHP practice and service needs in collaboration with the ABUHB End of Life Care Board education work streamTo enhance communication between primary care, secondary care and the voluntary sector to promote a seamless service and improved patient experience.This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months due to secondment cover. Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Registered General NurseFirst level degree or equivalent level of experience and knowledgeMasters qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experienceEvidence of CPD - portfolio of professional development activitiesTeaching qualificationCounselling qualificationLeadership and management qualificationExperience

Experience in palliative careExperience of working at a senior level in a complex organisationExperience of leading/managing a serviceExperience of working between primary and secondary careExperience and professional knowledge of financial management and staff management acquired through training and experienceExperience of successful development and delivery of service improvement and/or successful management of organisational changeEvidence of advanced communication skills trainingExperience of audit and researchProject or programme management experienceValues
