Engineering Manager
will lead a team delivering comprehensive engineering works and estates services, ensuring efficient operation of engineering services and installations. The role requires maintaining safety standards, compliance with the PFI contract, statutory requirements, and providing expert technical guidance to staff and management.Main DutiesCommunicate effectively with all levels within Mitie and the Trust, including complex negotiations and persuasion.Ensure contractual and statutory requirements are met and documented.Manage and undertake Lead Authorised Person responsibilities for specified disciplines.Interpret and implement complex technical documents and drawings.Develop strategic plans considering current and future legislation.Formulate risk management strategies for the estates function.Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota for estate emergencies.Provide technical and managerial guidance, maintaining high staff morale and motivation.Act as delegated responsible person in the absence of senior management.Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring safeguarding is a priority.Oversee maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of engineering services, ensuring safety, quality, and budget adherence.Develop and update maintenance and contract specifications, ensuring value for money.Maintain accurate property and performance records, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.Participate in staff recruitment, training, and development, ensuring technical competency.RequirementsRelevant certifications in FM and Engineering (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, IWFM); AP qualifications preferred.Experience in technical leadership within facilities management, preferably healthcare.Strong understanding of engineering principles and compliance standards.Excellent communication and leadership skills.Willingness to adapt and embrace new challenges.Mitie is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
