Principal Ecology and Biodiversity Consultant

This position offers a unique chance to drive the growth and development of the Ecology and Biodiversity Team, handling a diverse portfolio of projects from small single-plot developments to large-scale Environmental Impact Assessments. The hub is based in the West Midlands with flexibility on location, ideally within an hour commute of Wolverhampton.Key Responsibilities:Providing leadership and technical review within the Ecology and Biodiversity TeamMentoring junior members of staffUndertaking field surveys across various habitats and speciesAdvising on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and protected species mitigationContributing to Environmental Impact Assessments and project deliveryEngaging in stakeholder consultation and financial managementJob Requirements:BSc and/or MSc in Ecology or a related disciplineMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEEM)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsBroad understanding of the planning process and ecological assessmentStrong field survey experience across diverse species and habitatsApplied knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)Understanding of protected site legislation and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)Financial management experience at the project or team levelDesirable Skills:Holder of protected species licences (e.g., great crested newt, bats)Line management experienceStakeholder consultation experience with bodies like Natural EnglandInnovative approach to developing ecological solutionsBenefits:Competi
