Job Title: Warehouse Operative
Salary: DOE - annual bonus and overtime pay
Location: Leeds, Morley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week - alternate shifts: 7am-16:00pm and 9am-18:00pm
Job Description
Responsible for loading and unloading vehicles and performing general warehouse duties to maintain efficient operations. This includes picking and packing products, as well as completing all administrative activities related to goods in and out. Joining an existing team of 1 warehouse supervisor and 3 warehouse operatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload international and domestic vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
- Check and complete relevant documentation.
- Receive deliveries of storage goods into the warehouse, check quantities and condition, record receipt, and complete paperwork.
- Put away customer goods into relevant racking space.
- Strategically store merchandise to maximize warehouse storage space.
- Complete stock and inventory check as required.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse.
- Keep all areas clean, including the warehouse, warehouse office, goods yard, and car parks.
- Inspect merchandise for damages and discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all goods received and dispatched, in line with company procedures.
- Liaise with office staff to resolve shipment or delivery issues.
- Operate forklifts (counterbalance/reach trucks) to load, unload, move, stack, and arrange merchandise.
- Perform manual handling of goods.
- Carry out safety checks of handling equipment, roller shutter doors, dock levellers, etc.
- Liaise with visiting drivers and subcontractors, providing operational and health & safety instructions.
- Comply fully with site health and safety requirements.
- Assist with site and facilities maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain awareness of fire safety and conduct fire checks.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a warehouse logistics environment.
- Proficient in MS Office 365 applications.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Logical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adaptable to change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications (if applicable)
- Forklift truck licence (counterbalance/reach).
- First aid qualification/certification preferred but not essential.
Benefits
- Weekly alternate shifts:
- 7:00am - 4:00pm
- 9:00am - 6:00pm
- Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate.
- Occasional Saturday morning work (paid as overtime).
- Christmas bonus (discretionary)
- 25 days holiday (increasing to 30 with service) plus bank holidays
