Job Title: Commercial Building Surveyor (6-Month Interim)
Location: Surrey (Hybrid Working: 50% Office/Site, 50% Remote)

Surrey Council is seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Building Surveyor to join our dynamic commercial team for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of extension. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong contract management experience and a track record of delivering projects across a diverse commercial portfolio.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of projects - from small-scale repairs to large-scale developments, including heritage buildings, offices, retail spaces, multi-storey car parks, and more. With project values ranging up to -900k, you will oversee procurement, delivery, and the successful completion of projects from start to finish.

• Lead and manage a range of commercial building projects, including repairs, refurbishments, and new developments.

• Oversee and manage contract administration, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• Work closely with procurement teams to ensure effective sourcing and tendering processes.

• Coordinate and supervise site activities, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.

• Maintain strong communication with key stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

• Prepare and write reports, bids, and tender documents as required.

• Conduct site inspections and provide expert advice on commercial property matters.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Essential:

  • Strong contract management experience, particularly in the commercial building sector.

  • Proven experience in managing projects from inception through to completion, with the ability to handle a range of project sizes and complexities.

  • Experience in procurement and tendering processes.

  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio, including offices, retail spaces, and heritage buildings.

• Desirable:

  • Experience working on multi-storey car park projects, especially with barrier works or convection projects.

  • CIOB or RICS membership is preferred, though not essential if you have relevant experience in the field.

  • Public sector experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
