Plan and deliver end-to-end user research to understand the needs, motivations, and pain points of civil servants adopting AI tools.Design and carry out research activities such as interviews, usability testing, workshops, and field studies.Collaborate with policy makers, service designers, technologists, and delivery teams to ensure user insights inform every stage of the design process.Champion user-centred design and help teams embed research and service design practices into their agile workflows.Lead synthesis of research findings into actionable insights, creating user stories that drive continuous improvement.Help create and refine an AI implementation playbook based on real user feedback and research evidence.Skills and Experience

Extensive experience leading user research in complex environments, ideally within government or large organisations.A strong understanding of how to align research with operational and policy goals.Proven success introducing new research methods and embedding user-centred design in cross-functional teams.Exceptional communication skills — able to engage and influence a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.A keen interest in AI, digital transformation, or large-scale process improvement (experience in these areas is a plus).Experience working across the full service life-cycle in government, public sector, or charity settings.Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage multiple research streams effectively.Application and Notes
