Laboratory Coordinator

We are currently seeking an interim Laboratory Coordinator, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based at our client''s scientific Research andamp; Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £30,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.
Role overview: Coordination and preparation of fragrance evaluations on behalf of the HC Fragrance Team, ensuring standard and safe operating practices.
Duties include:
Coordination
- Work closely with the Fragrance experts to plan for upcoming fragrance evaluation requirements for projects. Book washing machines/ booths/lab space, prepare test cloths and wash loads, order/ chase samples from project teams/ perfume houses. Ensure all assessors/ project teams are invited to and can attend the appropriate assessments
- Maintain the appropriate stock for ballast loads and monitors, ordering when required.
- Maintain the benchmark library of products, keeping up to date by ordering new products and disposing of old products. Register products in data base.
- Maintain the fragrance oil library keeping up to date by ordering new oils and disposing of old oils. Register oils into LIMS
- Represent the fragrance team in weekly meetings with CTI Laundry Sensory Panel Leader to ensure smooth operation of shared facilities and cost saving
- Book visitors in at reception, order lunches, book rooms for meetings.
Preparation
- Complete Job Sheets with the correct wash condition protocols and products with the appropriate test requirements for the Fragrance assessment
- Order Benchmark products
- Ensure test product samples are on site and log them into the data base.
Preparation of fabrics
- Ensure quality and best practice is applied at all times
- Desize monitors in the relevant wash conditions, laying out flat to dry
- Heat sealing labels on to monitors
- Labelling monitors with the relevant codes
- Desize ballast fabrics prior to use
- Make up ballast loads to the required composition
- Order fabrics/test monitors to maintain stocks
Preparation of samples - Weighing out the correct main wash powder and Fabric conditioner dosage into jars and Labelling jars with appropriate codes
Preparation of water - Filling tanks with demin water, weighing and adding salts to achieve specific water hardness and titrating water to ensure correct water hardness achieved
Performing test washes
Machine Wash, Load washing machines, Following job protocols and specific methodology with accuracy, Empty washing machines and sorting test monitors for assessment
Hand washes, Follow job protocols and specific methodology with accuracy, Sort test monitors at the end of the process for assessment
Prepare cloths for assessment by the fragrance team - Damp, In booths, Line dried
Recovery - Recovery of ballast loads for re-use when appropriate, keeping a record of number of times used ie. ballast is only re-used twice and Washing sample jars/bottles when finished with for re-use
Other - Keep track of monthly costing of project and report to Line Manager and Offer suggestions for improved ways of working based on own experience
