Interim Head of Policy, FTC

The opportunity
We are working with an independent regulatory body to find an interim Head of Policy for a fixed-term contract (to March 2025). This is a senior leadership position, heading a team of 10 policy specialists who play a vital role in developing and communicating both the organisation’s proactive policy agenda and its response to legislation and electoral events. With a background in policy analysis and development, you will be a committed individual who appreciates political sensitivities and has substantial experience of working with and influencing senior colleagues and external stakeholders.Main responsibilities
To develop and oversee the delivery of a programme of activities to support the Policy Team operational planTo act as the organisation’s primary point of contact for senior external partners in relation to policyTo oversee the management of performance and development of all members of the Policy Team throughout the year, including identifying and agreeing areas for individual and team developmentBuild and maintain excellent working relationships with senior colleagues across the organisation, including Board members, Executive Team and other Senior Leadership Team members, as well as regional offices and teams to ensure the policy agenda is communicated clearly and effectively across the UK.Key experience required
Extensive experience of policy development, including some experience in the public sectorSubstantial experience at an appropriate level of managing projects, budgets and staffExperience of analysing legal issues and seeking legal advice in the development of policyExperience of using research to inform policy developmentProven track record of successfully pressing for policy change.
