OverviewOpportunity for Social Work or Social Care Academics to Teach on D55 - temporary position(s) until end April 2026 (up to 4 sessions a week including a Thursday). Are you an experienced academic in Social Work or Social Care with a passion for teaching at the doctoral level? Would you like to increase your sessions for one term?
Responsibilities
Facilitate group seminars, mentor doctoral students, and contribute to the academic growth of candidates across the Professional Doctorate in Advanced Practice and Research in Social Work and Social Care (D55).
Teach up to 4 sessions per week, with face-to-face teaching at the Tavistock on alternate Thursdays.
Help shape learning experiences for doctoral students at various stages of their academic journey.
What we''re looking for
Experience in practitioner research within social work or social care
Expertise in teaching and learning at the doctoral level
Strong knowledge and skills in social work and social care practice
Ideally research-active or with extensive academic experience
QualificationsEssential
PhD or professional Doctorate or equivalent
Substantial experience of teaching students in higher education
Commitment to and track record in anti-discriminatory, anti-racist practice and teaching
Knowledge and understanding of psychosocial/ systemic approaches to health and social care and organisations
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and ability to convey complex ideas in teaching and learning environments
Desirable
Experience of doctoral supervision preferably with one or more completions
Track record of writing for publication and engaging in scholarly activity
Experience of quality assurance, academic governance and the student experience
UK recognised qualification in Social Work
Experience of doctoral examining
