WSP . This opportunity is to join our expanding Building Structures team delivering a variety of prestigious projects. The role is based in our Manchester office (First Street) with a culture focused on health, wellbeing and flexible working.Responsibilities
Develop innovative and sustainable designs from concept for a wide range of challenging projects, including transportation hubs, tall towers, healthcare, defence and education schemes, all with national and local architects.Take a key technical leadership role on multi-disciplinary design projects from concept through to detailed design, in coordination with architects, engineers and specialist consultants.Participate in tender bids and business development opportunities as they arise.Agree fees and manage the commercial position on projects.Exercise independent judgement and resolve technical issues.You will be joining our expanding Building Structures team, as an Engineer, with responsibility for the project management, technical leadership and delivery of schemes from inception through to handover of the completed scheme to the client.Your team
Own and lead the design process, encouraging yours and wider teams to deliver the right solutions to the agreed programme, and support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.Manage processes to ensure technical issues and risks are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.Form strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients.Provide sustainable development solutions from site selection through to detailed design and construction.Provide specialist advice and design solutions to our clients on sustainable design, net zero carbon, MMC and DfMA.Reporting to a senior member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and high-profile major multi-disciplinary development projects across the region, spanning sectors including Transportation, High-rise, Commercial and Mixed use, Retail, Education and Healthcare. Recent wins in the Defence sector are also listed.What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
Degree or HNC/HND qualification in a relevant discipline.Chartered or on the path to Chartership.Solid experience in civil and structural detailed design.Detailed working knowledge of national codes and standards.Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts and experience in producing calculations.Experience with structural design software packages such as Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds; experience with CAD software such as Revit would be beneficial.Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.About Us
