The RoleWe are looking for a motivated and experienced
Lead Engineer
to join our team. This is a hands-on position with added responsibility for leading small works, mentoring an apprentice, and acting as the first point of contact for all engineering-related matters.
Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you''ll support day-to-day engineering activity across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, compliance, and quality of service. You''ll also develop trusted client relationships, lead by example, and help to foster a positive team culture.
This role will suit someone with strong technical skills, proven leadership ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Small Works Delivery (approx. 50%)Plan, quote, and deliver small works projects in line with client requirements and Anabas processes.Typical works include: air conditioning installations, lighting upgrades, EV charger installations, flooring replacement, and minor fit-out works.Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery.Maintain accurate records, compliance documentation, and work trackers.Ensure all works meet HandS, statutory, and client-specific standards.Engineering Duties (approx. 50%)Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory testing in line with SFG20 and ACOPs.Respond to reactive maintenance tasks within SLA/KPI targets.Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and remedial recommendations.Ensure compliance with Anabas and client safety procedures.Support Helpdesk with effective labour planning and coordination across multiple sites.What We''re Looking ForStrong experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer with broad knowledge of building services systems.Minimum CandG Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC discipline.Proven track record of delivering small works or leading installation projects.Excellent knowledge of compliance, HandS, and risk management.Competent with Microsoft Office, CAFM systems, and handheld job devices.Ability to supervise subcontractors and work from schematics/technical drawings.Strong communicator and team player, with experience mentoring others.Full UK Driving Licence (essential for travel between sites).Desirable Skills and ExperiencePrevious leadership or supervisory experience within an FM environment.Knowledge of L8/Legionella and asbestos awareness.Experience working with critical systems (e.g., generators, UPS).Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities in a prior role.What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits package.Paid overtime with regular opportunities available.On-call rota participation (with additional pay).Career development opportunities within a growing business.Interested?If you''re a proactive, technically skilled engineer with a passion for delivering quality and leading by example, we''d love to hear from you.
