Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC and is growing rapidly as a Centre of Excellence for the bank''s universal banking business across EMEA. It provides a range of technology and operational support services, aligned to SMBC''s growth, innovation, and transformation strategies. This role is for an experienced Storage and Data Protection Engineer (Assistant Vice President) to join the Platform Engineering team.Responsibilities

Managing and maintaining enterprise storage and backup systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity across a global infrastructure.Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising storage and data protection environments, including proactive incident response and lifecycle management of hardware and software.Collaborating with cross-functional IT teams and vendors to implement new solutions, support business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and ensure compliance with security and operational standards.Maintain technical documentation and integrate automation where appropriate.Support business continuity and disaster recovery readiness across global data centres.What you’ll bring to the role

Strong experience with enterprise storage and backup technologies (e.g. NetApp, Dell PowerMax/PowerStore, Rubrik) in highly virtualised environments.Solid understanding of networking, virtualisation, and data centre operations.Hands-on experience in managing hardware and software lifecycles and patching schedules.Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work across global teams and manage vendor relationships effectively.Desirable: Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, APIs).Experience working in regulated, process-driven environments. Familiarity with enterprise server/storage hardware and cloud-based backup solutions.About the role
