CJS Recruitment are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Assistant Estimator with prior experience in the stone, ceramic, and tile sectors. The ideal candidate will support the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial projects. Your understanding of materials, installation methods, and industry standards will play a key role in helping to-deliver successful bids and maintain client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare take-offs and estimates for stone, ceramic, and tile work.

- Perform quantity take-offs using digital software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, AutoCAD) and manual methods when required.

- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, labor, and logistics.

- Support the preparation of detailed bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns.

- Maintain and update historical pricing databases and estimating tools.

- Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and installation teams to ensure estimates align with field operations.

- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings when necessary.

- Track and manage bid submissions and follow-ups.

- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, and relevant codes and regulations.

Requirements:

- 2+ years of estimating experience in the stone, ceramic, and tile industry.

- Strong knowledge of materials, installation techniques, and industry best practices.

- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
