Sous Chef
Family-run home since 1983, on the seafront of Porthcawl. We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, family-run care home for a 2nd / Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef to join a supportive team, working Monday to Friday and weekends, with shifts and hours flexible to suit your availability. Shifts and Hours Weekdays: 8am - 3pm or 3pm - 8pm Weekends: 8am - 2pm or 3pm - 8pm From 30 hours per week, with shift patterns discussed at interview Role Overview Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. You will deputise for the Head Chef in their absence and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities Assist in menu planning and meal preparation Ordering and stock management Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety Support the team in delivering freshly prepared, nutritious meals Deputise for the Head Chef when required Assist in training or supervising kitchen staff as needed Skills and Experience Previous experience in a similar role (care home or hospitality preferred) Good knowledge of menu planning, ordering, and stock control Understanding of health and hygiene standards and health and safety regulations Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team Passionate about providing high-quality meals for residents Benefits and Environment £14 per hour Flexible shifts to suit your lifestyle Suppor
