Network Security EngineerHertfordshire Based£55,000 (dependent on experience) + Shift allowance

You''ll be at the heart of securing our network infrastructure, working closely with the SOC team to proactively defend against cyber threats.

The Focus* Managing and configuring firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto)* Working with secure proxy solutions (e.g., Bluecoat, F5)* Implementing and monitoring IPS/IDS, SSL decryption, and packet inspection tools* Reviewing and supporting SOC alerting with hands-on triage* Participating in change implementation and compliance initiatives

Essential:* Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing and switching* Expertise with next-gen firewalls and deep packet inspection* Secure proxy management (content filtering, SSL inspection, traffic monitoring)* Familiarity with IPSec, SSL/TLS, VPNs, and two-factor authentication* Network architecture knowledge (DMZs, segmentation)* Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios)

Desirable:* Familiarity with tools such as Darktrace, Splunk ES, Log Rhythm* Advanced packet capture skills to trace attacker behaviours* SOC collaboration experience (Tier 1 alert triage)* LDAP troubleshooting and application traffic flow root cause analysis* Solid grasp of the OSI model and relevant protocols (DNS, HTTP/S, FTP/S, SMTP, LDAP/S)

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible to undergo UK Security clearance.
