SEMH Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision (Secondary)
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
Rate: -95110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: Immediate

Do you have the patience, resilience, and communication skills to build trust with students who may struggle in mainstream settings as a SEMH Teaching Assistant?
If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving Alternative Provision in Salford, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
This setting supports pupils who have faced challenges in mainstream education and need additional guidance to re-engage with learning. Many students have SEND, including ASC and SEMH, alongside behavioural needs.
The Role
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students in lessons and provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions. You''ll work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to help pupils stay engaged, adapt learning where needed, and build confidence both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students across a range of subjects
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for SEMH/SEND needs
- Adapt learning activities to suit individual learners
- Encourage engagement and positive participation
- Support routines, transitions, and organisation
- Assist with behaviour management strategies
- Build positive relationships and promote independence
- Work collaboratively with staff and pastoral teams
