Academics are working closely with specialist SEN schools across Rotherham, recruiting confident and capable SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs on a supply basis.

Position: SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: -115 - -145 per day (paid via PAYE - no umbrella fees)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that suits you

About the Role

As an SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant in Rotherham, you will support pupils with a range of needs, particularly SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) within specialist school environments.

This SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant role in Rotherham will involve delivering lessons, leading targeted interventions, and supporting pupils both academically and emotionally.

Working across Rotherham SEN schools, you will have access to flexible supply work as well as opportunities for longer-term roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide classroom cover
  * Support pupils with SEMH and ASD
  * Lead small group and 1:1 interventions
  * Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  * Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs
  * Support assessment and learning outcomes
  * Follow safeguarding and school policies

Candidate Requirements

• HLTA qualification (Level 4 or equivalent)
  * Strong experience working within SEN settings
  * Confident leading learning and managing behaviour
  * Resilient, patient and adaptable approach
  * Strong communication and teamwork skills
  * Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
