Civil Engineer - 6 Month Contract
£50,000 - £60,000 (£25.64 - £30.77 per hour)

Are you a Civil Engineer with a passion for practical design work across major infrastructure and building projects? We're seeking a technically minded and proactive Civil Engineer to join an industry-leading consultancy on a 6-month temporary contract, with strong potential for extension.
Location: Birmingham preferred, but we welcome applicants based near our client's regional offices in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff or Leeds.
Contract Type: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 37.5 per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid (minimum 3 days in office)
Pay Rate: £25.64 - £30.77 per hour (£50,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience)
Expenses: Paid for travel to and from project sites
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview:
This is a fantastic opportunity to support a multi-disciplinary Building Design Practice delivering civil engineering services for UK and overseas clients. You'll contribute to small-to-medium infrastructure projects including drainage, utilities, access, construction logistics and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver civil engineering designs in accordance with UK standards and codes
- Produce high-quality, practical designs within multi-disciplinary teams
- Use software tools like AutoCAD and Civil 3D (Revit/BIM360 experience desirable)
- Apply BIM principles and comply with QA procedures
- Effectively manage your time and workload independently
What We're Looking For:
- Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or HND/equivalent experience
- Working towards chartership with ICE
- Experience in the design and analysis of drainage, utilities, pavement and infrastructure
- Strong communication, team collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with current UK engineering practices and standards
- A flexible, practical and digitally aware mindset
Bonus if you have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC)
