The Role
A secondary school in Telford is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join their department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a focus on Resistant Materials, Construction, and Engineering. You will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons that develop students’ technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and design skills while preparing them for vocational and GCSE-level qualifications.
The role will involve planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining workshop safety standards, and supporting pupils in the successful completion of practical projects. You will encourage creativity, innovation, and independent thinking while helping students understand the real-world applications of design, construction, and engineering principles.
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
• Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
• Be confident delivering Resistant Materials, Construction, and/or Engineering subjects at KS3 and KS4
• Demonstrate strong classroom and workshop management skills
• Have a sound understanding of health and safety requirements within practical learning environments
• Be passionate about developing students’ technical and vocational skills
• Be committed to supporting pupil progress and achievement
