The companyOur client is an evidence-based tutoring start-up. They provide high-quality, evidence-based tutoring for GCSE English Language, English Literature, and History.

They differentiate themselves from their competitors by being laser-focused on using teaching methods backed by evidence and research. There has been a revolution in evidence in education over the last 10 years – and therefore, a whole world of evidence-based practice now exists. The principles have become widely known in the teaching world but have yet to be adopted in private tutoring.

They use a structured curriculum, where each lesson and unit builds logically on the last, so knowledge and skills compound, and students feel a sense of success. They deliver this in small groups (between 3-7). This type of group creates an environment where students can learn from one another’s answers, as well as engage in friendly, no-stakes competition. They avoid groups of more than 7, as the tutor then starts to lose the ability to give precise, individual feedback, as seen in school classes of 32. Small groups. Big results.

Every tutor working with the company is trained and assessed extensively in evidence-based tutoring methods. This includes providing them with intensive coaching, one-on-one development, and observation. They provide them with direct feedback, as well as guidance on how to benefit from student and parent feedback. Their processes ensure they can deliver excellent lessons and help all students achieve their academic goals.

Motivations for signing up vary but often include improved exam results and increased confidence in school. When you sign up with the company, they sit down with you individually to discuss your child’s learning goals, their current strengths and weaknesses, and how they work best. From this initial discussion, they developed an individual plan to achieve those objectives, which enables them to track progress together.

The roleJoining the team, you’ll be responsible for selling and onboarding new customers. You’ll be supplied with a consistent flow of inbounds leads, predominantly coming from Facebook ads, but lead channels will grow and diversify over time.

You’ll be joining the business at an early stage and working closely with the founders. It is a great opportunity to join during an exciting period of growth, with opportunities to progress into leadership as the company continues to develop.
