Job Title: Payroll Client Manager (Maternity Cover)
Location: Dudley (On-site)
Salary: Up to £32,000 DOE

We''re recruiting for an experienced Payroll Client Manager to join a busy and growing accountancy practice in Dudley on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
 
The Payroll Client Manager will manage their own portfolio of over 120 payroll clients, processing end-to-end payroll across a mix of frequencies and business types. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent client communication skills, and the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
 
Payroll Client Manager Responsibilities:

-  Log incoming payments promptly and carry out daily bank reconciliations
-  Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and resolve client account  queries
-  Initiate formal debt recovery via platforms such as Money Claim Online when required
-  Regularly meet with account managers to review and reduce overdue balances
-  Manage credit control activities across several group businesses
-  Take phone payments securely through the group''s online system
-  Maintain clear, detailed records of all payment activity and client interactions
-  Generate and present credit control performance reports for management use
-  Adjust your communication approach to suit a range of client industries and personalities
-  Process credit notes in line with internal policies and approval workflows
-  Ensure overdue invoices are followed up consistently, with a phone-first strategy
-  Offer general finance team support with wider tasks and ad-hoc admin
-  Assist in refining and improving credit control procedures across the organisation
 
Payroll Client Manager profile:

-  Minimum 4 years'' payroll experience, ideally within a bureau or client-facing role
-  In-depth knowledge of PAYE, NIC, tax codes, and statutory payments
-  Strong working knowledge of auto-enrolment and pension submissions
-  Confident using Sage Payroll and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
-  Excellent communication and time-management skills
-  Proactive, organised, and capable of managing your own workload independently
-  Professional and approachable, with a client-focused mindset
