We serve the house building sector, there are commercial projects too. Our clients include local house builders developing bespoke, sometimes small developments or luxury homes. At the other end of the scale, we build for national housebuilders. Affordable housing developments is part of our portfolio too, for Housing Associations and Local Councils, often delivered through contractors. Our contracts can run from as little as two weeks through to two years and beyond, depending on size and speed.We see the commercial on-boarding of new clients as an essential early step in forging a long and lasting relationship, characterized by repeat business that generates healthy margins in accordance with our business strategy.Your work will support three teams who are focused on clients in their regions in England. We call these Regional Delivery Teams and there is a team for the South East of England, the South West and the North of England. Additionally, there is a Team for Scotland, however this SQS will support only the three England regions. Their 3-year business objective is to scale up to sales worth £30m + for each region.You will also be part of the Commercial Department and report to the Head of Commercial.This is a great role if you’re keen to develop your career. In this role, you’ll:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget, ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.Have ownership of project setup, cost control, and contract administrationPartner with Construction Managers to manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and payment processes with confidence and clarity.Agree a binding contract with our client based upon the agreed risk management proceduresMonitor cash flow, manage financial risks, and ensure compliance with credit policies.Produce and present monthly cost reports, to the senior management team, identifying opportunities for performance improvement.Clarify the scope of works, attendances, specification and operational matters such as plant, transport, programmeReview contract order documents against the bandwidth for negotiation and work with customers to agree sub-contract orders within the company''s parameters for contractual risks.Provide input as the person providing the contract administration and cost control over projectsProvide input on the early stages of a project with commercial perspectiveSupport and guide Assistant Quantity Surveyors, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and professional excellence.Understand the proposed project and meet the client to agree mattersCollaborate with pre-construction, construction and finance teams to ensure seamless project execution, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.Have responsibility for meeting and upholding our Health and Safety and Environmental Policy.We’ll train you with your own growth plan so you’re ready for the next steps in your career.
