Director of Finance & Services

£65,000 to £75,000 per year - 37.5 hours per weekMain Job Purpose
The Director of Finance and Services will be responsible for preparing, managing, and implementing the financial strategy, policies, procedures, and controls at AFH. They will contribute strategically and operationally to services including HR, Procurement, and Facilities. Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, they will work closely with the charity’s leaders to deliver its objectives. They will ensure effective controls, compliance with applicable regulations, and lead the Finance team, holding ultimate responsibility for all finance objectives.Key Responsibilities
Manage the finance and services functions efficiently, overseeing team members.Provide high-level support to the organization in the UK and internationally.Ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain high standards in financial procedures, record keeping, auditing, and reporting.Maintain regular contact with the Board of Trustees, CEO, leadership teams, and department heads.Report financial matters to the Audit, Finance and Risk (AFR) committee.Oversee internal audit operations and liaise with external auditors.Communicate effectively across the organization and engage with external stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental agencies.Other Key Accountabilities
The Director will adhere to AFH’s values and principles, reporting regularly on KPIs. They will have full line management responsibility for relevant departments, including recruitment, training, and day-to-day management.1. Strategic Leadership
Assist the CEO, AFR, and Board in developing and implementing financial strategies and policies.Monitor investment performance and revise policies as needed.Establish and maintain internal controls and ensure effective financial operations.Work with the CEO on costings for bids, projects, and budgets.2. Stakeholder Management
Maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as organizations, government bodies, and donors.Ensure independence of internal audit and liaise with external partners.3. Compliance
Ensure policies and procedures comply with regulations and standards.Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely reporting.Manage UK and International Finance teams, procurement, and facilities services.4. Planning, Reporting, and Resources
Develop and monitor financial systems for accurate reporting.Support technology and systems development, including ERP.Negotiate contracts and finalize financial statements, ensuring external audit approval.Oversee funding applications and financial analysis for programs and projects.5. Other
